During the evening we will run 2 sessions:
In Cedar, Mr Law will focus in on becoming fluent and accurate with the written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication (long and short) and division (long and short). As well as this, he will cover the importance of being able to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000 and demonstrate how to help children apply this knowledge to finding a % of a number.
In Redwood, Mr Cook will explain the methods children learn in order to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions with different denominators and mixed numbers.
Each session will be run twice so that you are able to attend both. However, you are free to attend just one of the sessions if you are confident in your knowledge of what is being offered from the other. We will aim to keep the workshops to 20 minutes each but will leave some additional time between sessions for questions and in order to allow time for you to rehearse the skills!
In the past, parents have found these sessions really useful and insightful, particularly if their own experience of maths at school was not a positive one! We would really like to see as many parents as possible and encourage you to attend without your child(ren) so you can fully grasp everything being shared.
