Well, this is my last newsletter to you as Headteacher of Outwoods Edge. I have reported lots of different things over the years. For a while it all seemed to be all about building work, firstly extensions to the existing building and then the new Foundation Stage unit which made such a difference to our youngest children. Of course we’ve needed the space. The school has grown from around 260 when I joined to over 415 now. I can’t calculate how many children have been through the school in the 18 years since I have been here but I can say it was good to get to know all of them. The oldest children must be heading towards their thirties now and may have children of their own. I know some have become parents because their children now attend our school!
I wanted to say a big thank you to the parents and carers who have contributed so much to the life of Outwoods Edge. Not just the amazing group who have headed up the Friends groups but also lots of parents who have given up their time for us over the years.
I have tried to build Outwoods Edge into a community that gives the children great opportunities and supports them as they grow to become more and more independent. Of course I couldn’t have achieved anything without the amazing staff who have worked here over the years; the teachers, support staff, office staff, midday staff and premises staff.
