Can I start by saying thank you very much for your support of our Harvest appeal last week. Parents and friends of the school are always so generous and the Harvest Baskets were overflowing with packets, tins and fresh produce. We had marrows and aubergines as well home grown tomatoes and peppers. There were tins of tuna, beans and pulses and packets of pasta and cereal.
After school I loaded half the baskets into the car and took them down to The Carpenter’s Arms. The staff were really grateful for the donations and formed a chain to pass the boxes from the boot of my car to their kitchen. Some of the donated food will be used by the people staying at the house and the rest will be added to the food bank boxes. Either way, all the food will be used.
Then I came back and made a similar trip to Rainbows with the rest of the food. I met the chef who prepares the food for the children and he told me that he often has to make individual meals because of the children’s specific needs or requirements. He said that the food, once sorted, would be added to his kitchen store cupboard.
Thank you once again.
