Duke’s Barn 2018

Duke’s Barn 2018

Class Larch Wednesday – Friday 2018

Day 2!

What a day! We enjoyed a big breakfast of sausage/bacon cobs, croissants, toast and cereal – fuelling our bodies for the busy day ahead. We all ventured to the Chesterfield canal together, which involved a competitive boat race with a hot chocolate pit stop. After, we returned to the Barn to have our lunch before going in our separate groups to either rock climb or cave. We’re hoping the weather holds out tonight to light another campfire!

Day 1!

After arriving, we had a tour of the Barn and ate lunch with class Hazel. After waving class Hazel goodbye, we (attempted some of us!) to make our beds before setting off on our first activity together. We went out orienteering at Black Rocks near Cromford, using our navigation skills to find letters around the course by using our map whilst also completing challenges set by instructors at certain points! Well done Hedgehogs for winning the challenge! Back at the Barn, we have enjoyed a delicious dinner of jacket potatoes with beans, tuna or chilli followed by chocolate profiteroles. We are off to wind down around the campfire. Goodnight!

Class Hazel Monday – Wednesday 2018

Well, we have had a great first afternoon at Dukes Barn. After arriving and settling in we went out orienteering at Black Rocks near Cromford. We had to had to navigate around the course using our map while completing challenges set by instructors. Back at the Barn we have enjoyed a delicious dinner of pizza, chips and salad followed by chocolate sponge. We are off for a campfire followed by settling down for a good night’s sleep!

Day 2

Good morning,
The children are up and getting ready for another action packed day. We can smell the breakfast cooking and looking forward to a day exploring caves, canoeing and conquering the climbing wall and ropes course.

Good Evening,
What a busy day! We have enjoyed canoeing along the Chesterfield canal which included experiencing how a canal lock worked, playing games and spotting wildlife. The children’s paddling skills improved considerably!
After lunch we split into our groups to go caving and climbing. It was fantastic to see the children stepping up to the challenge and out of their comfort zone. We have enjoyed another delicious meal and will soon be going outside to enjoy the beautiful evening and marshmallows around the campfire before settling down for bed.

Day 3
Good morning,
It is misty morning here at Dukes Barn but we are looking forward to a sunny day.
We enjoyed a fantastic last evening around the campfire roasting marshmallows and gazing at the stars before a bedtime story. The children are busy packing their cases before breakfast and then we will head out for our final set of activities before lunch and returning home.
