Following some recent movement, we have places available in some year groups. Please contact the school office for information.
English Writing at our school is rooted in a cross-curricular approach that ensures writing is meaningful, engaging, and makes links to the wider curriculum content or world events where possible. We are passionate about fostering a joy of writing, where every child sees themselves as an author with a voice worth sharing. From the very beginning in EYFS, we use the Drawing Club approach to ignite imagination and build strong early foundations. As children progress through the school, they explore a wide range of genres across Key Stage 2, developing their skills, creativity, and confidence as writers. Grammar is taught both discretely and in context, enabling children to understand how language works and how to apply it effectively in their writing. Purposeful writing outcomes ensure children understand the impact and audience of their work. Alongside this, we place a strong emphasis on oracy, recognising that speaking and listening are essential in shaping articulate, reflective, and effective writing learners.
Our Writing Leader is Mrs Lisa Williams.
Please make an appointment to see her if you would like any further information about the teaching of Writing at Outwoods Edge.
