Early Years Foundation Stage and Phonics

Foundation Stage

Children in the Foundation Stage are observed throughout the year and then a final assessment is made in June and July. Children who have made good progress in all areas are judged to be working at a ‘Good Level of Development.’ The table below shows the percentages of children achieving this standard from 2017 - 2019. There are no results for Summer 2020 or Summer 2021 as there have been no statutory assessments.

Year 1 Phonics Assessment

At the end of Year 1, children’s phonic knowledge is assessed in a test that is administered in all primary schools. The percentages of children who passed this assessment from 2017 - 2019 are shown in the table.

There are no results for Summer 2020 or Summer 2021 as there have been no statutory tests; children in Year 1 in 2019-20 took the Phonics assessment in Autumn 2020 - the results are shown in the table below.
